Враждующие королевства - это Нострия и Андергаст, небольшие королевства на западе Авентурии. Они знамениты своей вековой враждой, причины которой уже никто не помнит, но которая является одним из основополагающих элементов здешнего менталитета. Люди здесь ворчливы, суеверны, закрыты и со скепсисом относятся к новшествам, уважая и полагаясь на древние традиции. Хорошо то, что всегда так было.
Оба королевства характеризуются строгим феодальным строем и представляют собой сеттинг, вдохновленный ранним средневековьем и столетней войной между Англией и Францией. По авентурским стандартам эти страны считаются отсталыми и замшелыми, в Андергасте даже царит махровый патриархат.

Около десяти лет назад эпидемия синей хворобы выкосила четверть населения города Нострии, включая и всех членов царствующей династии. Выжила только одна отдаленная родственница, изучавшая магию в нострийской Академии Света и Тьмы. Ей пришлось взойти на престол как королеве Иоланде Второй Нострийской и принять на себя задачи, к которым ее никто никогда не готовил. Первые десять лет она правила нерешительно и терпела скорее снисходительное отношение со стороны знати. Но постепенно она привыкла к новой роли и старается быть хорошей правительницей для своего народа.

Во главе Андергаста с недавнего времени стоит молодой сорвиголова Вендельмир Четвёртый, из династии Цорнбольд, который любит разъезжать по стране в сопровождении своих друзей из высшей андергасткой знати и "наводить порядок". В политике он крайне консервативен.
Интересная деталь устройства андергастского общества, а точнее, его верхушки - это активное и официальное участие в жизни друидов. Между дворянином и друидом заключается магическая связь, и с этих пор друид является близким советником дворянина.
Судя по тому, что только-только вышло новое описание региона, подтверждающее его статус кво, можно спокойно положиться на то, что в ближайшие авентурские десятилетия в "Нострагасте" всё останется так, как было уже сотни лет назад.
